What research does the AI and Big Healthcare Data Research Lab conduct?
We conduct large-scale epidemiological studies using Kazakhstan's Unified National Electronic Healthcare System (UNEHS). Our work spans non-communicable diseases (diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, cancer), communicable diseases (tuberculosis, HIV, hepatitis), and AI/ML methods including local LLMs for clinical text analysis and drug demand forecasting.

The lab is led by Principal Investigators Abduzhappar Gaipov and Dinara Galiyeva, both faculty at Nazarbayev University School of Medicine. The team includes instructors, research assistants, and past collaborators.

We maintain research databases derived from Kazakhstan's Unified National Electronic Healthcare System (UNEHS), covering the entire population since 2014 with prospective follow-up and nationwide coverage.
